About Our Church

Statement Of Faith

God

We believe in one true living God, who is perfect, eternal, and who in the Trinity exists as one essence in three co-equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

(Matthew 28:19; Genesis 1; John 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:1-3; Deuteronomy 6:4: Ephesians 4:4-6; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5; John 14:9-10, 26; Matthew 28:18-19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 4:11)

Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, truly God and truly man, one person in two natures, and the image of God, who was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, demonstrated the authority and power of God in works and speech, suffered and died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sin of the world. He rose from the dead in a glorified body three days after his crucifixion. We believe He ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God, interceding for us. We believe that, by the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life, Jesus is now leading His people and will come again to set up His kingdom and judge the World. (Luke 1:26-35; Hebrews 12:1-2; Colossians 1:15; Philippians 2:5–8; Matthew 1:18–25; 1 Peter 2:24–25; Luke 24; Hebrews 4:14–16; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18; Matthew 25:31–46; Revelation 11:15–17; 20:4–6, 11–15)

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity whose ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict the world of their sin, to indwell & renew the spirit of the believer, and to sanctify and empower them to become more like Jesus in every way. We believe that the Holy Spirit sanctifies, instructs, empowers believers for service, and seals them unto the day of redemption as He pours out His fruit into their lives. (Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:13-25; 2 Cor. 3:18; John 14:16-17; 15:26; Acts 2:16-21; 1 Corinthians 12:13; John 16:7-9; Acts 1:5; 2:4; Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 2:22; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:22-23)

The Bible

We believe the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:12-21) We believe the Bible is the complete revelation of God’s will for humankind and is sufficient for all matters pertaining to life and godliness, with salvation and maturity into Christ's likeness being the goal. We believe its purpose is to be used as a rule of faith and daily guide for the believer in all things pertaining to faith and practice. We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the true standard by which all human conduct, practice, belief, and opinions shall be tested against. (2 Peter 1:3-4; 1 Timothy 1:8-11; 2 Timothy 3:15; 1 Peter 1:10-12; John 5:38-39)

Creation/Humanity

We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all that resides within it as stated in the Genesis account. We believe that God created male and female in his image and that because of their decision to eat the fruit that God had commanded them not to eat sin entered the world and because of this action, we believe all people are born into sin and that it is essential to, by faith, receive the finished work of Christ by repenting of their sin, confessing Him as Lord with their mouth, and believing in their heart that God raised Him from the dead. (Romans 3:23; 3:21-26; 5:12; 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:4-9; Acts 13:38-39; Genesis 5:2; Genesis 1.)

The Church

We believe that the Church is composed of all born-again believers in Christ. It’s calling and mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ while living together in local communities. We believe that the function of Church leadership is to support, encourage, and equip the saints for their work of ministry as the Holy Spirit leads them in following Jesus’ personal call on their lives. (John 3:3-7; Acts 2:42-47; 2 Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 4:1-2; 4:11-13,16; Philippians 1:9-11; 2:12-17, Hebrews 10:36, 13:15-17; 2 Timothy 4:1-2; 4:6-9; Matthew 25:32-46) We believe all born-again believers have been commissioned to share the Gospel with the whole world through discipleship, love, mercy, grace, and truth in word and deed. (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 7:24; Mark 16:15; Philemon 1:6)

Christ’s Return

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus. Those who have believed in Him will be resurrected to an incorruptible body and be forever present with the Lord. Those who do not believe will join Satan and in everlasting punishment. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10; Revelation 20; 1 Corinthians 15:42-44; 15:50-55; Philippians 3:21; Luke 21:22-33; Matthew 25:32-32)

Christian living

We believe that Christians should exemplify a Christ-like lifestyle in all they do and say. (1 Corinthians 11:1; Galatians 5:13-26; Ephesians 5:18, Romans 12, Romans 13)

Church History

Hague Community Church began services and formally organized in 1903. The first building was occupied in 1911, with a subsequent building program in 1929. Peter Regier (Tiefengrund) is considered the founding leader of the group. The leaders during these early years were Nicolai Bahnmann, M. Galle, and W. Friesen. In 1929 a larger meeting house was built. By this time the congregation was more or less independent. The old building was eventually used by the Mennonite congregation in Neuanlage. The congregation originated through colonization from rural Manitoba. Hague was formerly part of the Rosenort church group (Rosenorter Gemeinde). It became Hague Mennonite in 1962 when the Rosenort church group dissolved. Then, it became Hague Community Church in 2021.

Today we are a non-denominational, evangelical church with regular attenders from a variety of cultures. God has been good to us in the past, and we trust joyfully in his goodness for our future as a church family.
